Aug 01, 2022

The fourth stop on the 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series brought Dave Casey and the team head to South Australia for the 2022 OTR SuperSprint. Taking place at The Bend Motorsport, the weekend hosted four races of the series, with SuperUtes action running from the Friday to the Sunday. Having been Dave’s first ever outing at The Bend, Dave was keen to add another one of Australia’s famed circuits to his resume.

The race weekend kicked off on Friday morning with the Practice Session which saw Dave Casey go 11th fastest out of the pack with a best lap of 2m20.169s. Qualifying took place later in the day, with Dave earning a P13 Qualifying result for the weekend, taking close to two seconds off his fastest lap with a best time of 2m18.428s.

Race 1 and 2 were scheduled as part of Saturday’s festivities, with Race 1 kicking away in the morning. With The Bend proving itself to be the tough and technical track that it’s so well known for being, Dave Casey earned himself a P10 finish after 8 hard-fought laps. Race 2 saw similar results with Dave Casey crossing the chequered flag in P11 to round out the 10-lap effort around The Bend.

Sunday showed consistent results all around, with Dave picking up yet another P11 finish to round out Race 3 after the race was declared a non-event after a kerb became dislodged on Turn 12. Dave saw improved results for Race 4, piloting the ULT4WD SuperUte back into the Top 10 with a P10 result to end the weekend.

The weekend’s culminated efforts resulted in Dave etching out into the Top 10, earning a P10 outright result to cap off an action-packed OTR SuperSprint.

The 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series returns in two months’ time when the team heads to New South Wales for the 2022 Bathurst 1000, running from October 6th – 9th.
