Bendix’s clever, Australian made Ultimate Tow+™ Portable Electric Brake Controller has won ‘Most Innovative New Aftermarket Product – Electrical’, at this year’s Australian Auto Aftermarket Innovation Awards.
With its clever ‘Plug ‘n’ Play’ design, simple self-installation and ability to transfer between tow vehicles in a matter of minutes, Bendix’s new Ultimate Tow+™ Portable Electric Brake Controller marks a fundamental shift in electric brake controller design, introducing a level of portability and flexibility not previously available, with no hard wiring required.
Bendix's Ultimate Tow+™ Portable Electric Brake Controller has won ‘Most Innovative New Aftermarket Product – Electrical’, at this year’s Australian Auto Aftermarket Innovation Awards.
The unit comprises a patch harness that easily mounts between vehicles’ existing seven and/or 12-pin trailer / caravan plugs, which then secures to the ‘A’ frame with reusable heavy-duty straps.
Power is fed to the trailer mounted controller in one of two ways. For tow vehicles with 12 pin trailer plugs, power is drawn from a permanent 12V source from the vehicle. With vehicles using seven pin trailer plugs, power is taken from existing lighting and power circuits via the cable and plug. Inside the cabin, the control interface is USB-powered (either USB A or USB C) or via the lighter socket adaptor and connects to the trailer unit via RF link.
Brake adjustments are made using the control unit which offers 30 levels of fine digital control. This is mounted using the included commercially available phone style mounts; the kit also comes with magnetic mounting options for a vent, or a 3M backed mount to provide additional options.
A clever ‘Plug ‘n’ Play’ design and simple self-installation, means the portable controller can be conveniently moved between tow vehicles in just minutes.
Bendix’s recent win with the Ultimate Tow+™ Portable Electric Brake Controller follows success at the previous Australian Auto Aftermarket Innovation Awards, where it won ‘Most Innovative New Aftermarket Product (Parts) for its General CT™ Disc Brake Rotors, along with an ‘Excellence in Manufacturing’ Award.
Bendix CEO, George Kyriakopoulos, said the company was excited at earning its latest accolade.
“Bendix is dedicated to developing braking solutions that increase efficiency, convenience and safety for our customers,” George said.
“Along with offering outstanding braking control when towing, the portability of the brake controller also saves time and cost for users while improving safety.
“As a company, we’re extremely proud and grateful of the industry recognition – success like this keeps us motivated and energised to continue developing innovative products.”
Once installed, the Ultimate Tow+™ Portable Electric Brake Controller provides added safety and control when towing thanks to 30 levels of fine digital braking control.
