Bendix continues to strengthen its position as Australia and New Zealand’s preeminent manufacturer and supplier of friction material products, this month launching additional disc brake pad and brake shoe options across several of its product categories.
Included in the latest releases are new 4WD/SUV™ front pad shapes to suit late model Nissan Pathfinder and Mitsubishi Outlander (seven seat) variants from 2022 onwards, while owners of the Mazda CX-90 from 2022 to current, can now access rear disc brake pads from the 4WD/SUV™ range.
This range is specifically formulated for 4WD and SUV use – both on and off road – and provides excellent low noise and dust performance as well as reduced brake fade at higher temperatures.
The Bendix new product roll-out includes additions to the Heavy Duty™ as well, with new rear pad variants available for popular LDV commercial models including the V80 (K13) from 2013 onwards and for both single and dual rear wheels of the Deliver 9 from 2020 until current.
Designed specifically for working vehicles that often carry heavy loads and work in demanding start and stop conditions, Heavy Duty™ pads feature an exclusive insulation layer for cooler braking and longer life, helping to reduce vehicle running costs. This ‘insulayer’ lies between the backing plate and friction material, assisting the adhesion of friction material to the backing plate and minimising heat transfer.
In the General CT™ pad range, this month saw additional front variants introduced to suit Hyundai Kona (SX2) from 2023 onwards, along with Mazda MX-30 (DR) from 2021 to current.
General CT™ Brake Pads feature proven compounds that deliver reliable and secure stopping performance, coupled with a smooth and consistent pedal feel. Other qualities include noise and vibration absorbing shims for added driver and passenger comfort, and Bendix’s Blue Titanium Stripe technology, which provides superior stopping power ‘out of the box’ without the need for bedding in.
More brake pad choices for EVs and hybrids
The increasing popularity of EVs and hybrid models in recent years, has prompted Bendix to continue expanding its EV-Hybrid™ Disc Brake Pads options. The latest additions to this range takes in new front and rear variants for BYD ATTO 3 and Dolphin from 2022 onwards, as well as the GWM ORA from 2023 to current. Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 from 2022 onwards, has also come under the microscope, with Bendix engineers developing a new rear pad option.
Locally designed at Bendix’s Ballarat R&D facility to suit the needs of EV and hybrid electric braking systems, the EV-Hybrid™ range features copper-free, organic brake friction material that sees them certified to the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) ‘N’ rating. This measure confirms the pads contain less than 0.5 of copper by weight, allowing Bendix to use the AASA LeafMark™ ‘N’ icon.
The organic friction material used in the range comprise ingredients including synthetic glass, aramid and natural organic fibres as the main reinforcing elements. Added to these are organic modifiers and binding resins, which together deliver strong stopping power and low noise and dust emissions while reducing environmental impact.
Additional brake shoe options
For vehicles running rear brake drums, the Bendix range has expanded to now cover brake shoes to suit two-wheel drive Toyota Hilux (TGN121 and GUN122) from 2015 onwards, and for the compact MG3 (2018 to 2024 models) as well as the Suzuki Ignis (MF) from 2016 to current.
Bendix Brake Shoes are extensively tested in local environments, resulting in shoes that outperform others across all driving conditions, by offering a superior lifespan, greater noise and dust suppression, and importantly, better stopping power.
The range also features innovative technology that provides an advanced bond between the lining and shoe platform, delivering enhanced durability under tough driving conditions. The semi metallic friction material formulation also extends the life of the drum and lining.
