After its reveal last month, the Bendix-backed #888 Supercheap Auto Chevrolet Camaro made its competition debut over the weekend at the fifth round of the 2023 Supercars Championship – the Betr Darwin Triple Crown. With Zane Goddard behind the wheel for its maiden voyage, the #888 Supercheap Auto Camaro was ready to tackle Race 13, 14, and 15 of the 2023 Championship, featuring a special Indigenous-themed livery to commemorate the Darwin event. "The livery looks fantastic. The students at Racing Together did a brilliant job with the artwork,” Goddard said. "It was amazing for Supercheap Auto to allow them to have some flexibility in the design, allowing them to incorporate some cool colours and elements into the artwork.

Qualifying for Race 13 would kick off Saturday’s on-track antics with Zane piloting the #888 Supercheap Auto Camaro to a 15th in Q1 before ultimately qualifying for P18 in Q3 thanks to a 1m06.46s best time. The lights would go out on Race 13 later in the day with Zane fighting a dramatic race, ultimately crossing the chequered flag in P22 to cap off Saturday’s efforts. Zane had the following to say after Race 13.

Zane Goddard: “The start of the race was super positive. I got a really good launch which allowed me to pass quite a few cars. We were in a good position and I think we could have conserved our position well but then we had the first safety car come out. We thought the safety car in theory was going to help us because we are a one car team, whereas there would be a lot of double stacking happening for the rest of pitlane. If pitlane had run a little smoother it would’ve been a good thing – there was a lot happening. I ran into the back of (James) Courtney and then I got rear-ended and did a bit of bodywork damage, resulting in us losing a fair few places. I could of maybe pushed a little harder, at the end it felt like there was a little more left in the tyres, which is a good learning to take into tomorrow. The racing is so close between the cars, in the end we just didn’t quite have enough pace today. We’ll take the learnings from today and try to deliver some solid results tomorrow.”
