Media Releases

May 02, 2022

The second round of the 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series brought Dave Casey and the team to Perth for the 2022 Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight. With four races scheduled to take place at Perth’s Wanneroo Raceway, the team had a big weekend of racing ahead of them.

Being the ULT4WD SuperUte’s first outing out on the 2.4km long high-speed circuit, Friday afternoon’s practice session was the perfect opportunity for Dave to familiarise himself with the course in the new machine. After 16 practice laps, Dave managed to go 12th fastest among the grid with a best time of 1m08.77s on his 15th lap. Qualifying for the weekend took place later that afternoon with Dave Casey earning P11 with a best lap of 1m07.27s – a huge improvement from the earlier practice session. Dave had the following to say to wrap up Friday’s outing.

Dave Casey: “Practice and quali today didn’t go too bad. We were sort of chasing a few mechanical dramas, bad vibration under brakes and a bit of a notchy gearbox, so fortunately we’ve got an awesome mechanic and crew at Sieders Racing. They’re sorting it now for me so it’s all sweet for the race tomorrow.”

Race 1 kicked off the SuperUtes festivities on Saturday afternoon with Dave Casey battling in the ULT4WD SuperUte to retain his P11 standing from start to finish across the 15 lap race. Race 2 later in the day saw Dave move into the Top 10 despite a mishap on the kerb bending a couple of rims, crossing the chequered flag in P8 after 18 laps to wrap up Saturday’s efforts.

Race 3 kicked away on Sunday morning, with Dave piloting the ULT4WD SuperUte for 15 laps before crossing the finish line to a P7 finish. Race 4 saw similarly consistent results, earning himself a P8 finish to tie off the weekend’s efforts. A weekend of consistent results saw Dave and the team earn themselves an outright P6 result to wrap up the 2022 Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight.

The 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series continues in 3 weeks when the team heads to Victoria for the 2022 Winton SuperSprint from May 21-22.
