Supersession: Brake Shoes BS5009 to BS1768

Media Releases

Feb 22, 2018

Bendix recently made changes to our Brake Shoes BS1768 and BS5009. To clarify the changes, we will supersede BS5009 to BS1768 and discontinue BS5009. BS1768 is now recommended for vehicle applications that need the park brake pivot pin attached to the brake shoe, typically Toyota Dyna 100, Hiace, and Hilux 2WD.

We will also introduce a new part BS5287, for the vehicles that have the park brake lever pin attached to the lever instead of the shoe. These are mainly Toyota Liteace and Townace and their derivatives.

What we have changed:

BS1768 now supersedes BS5009. BS5009 will be obsoleted after the change.

What we have changed:

BS5287 is a new part that does not have the pin in the shoe.

During the transition period, as stocks of the old parts are used up, you may receive shoes branded as BS5009 in boxes labelled as BS1768, there is no difference in the parts for the end user. Catalogues will also be updated during this period to remove all references to BS5009.
