Media Releases

Mar. 16, 2017

Vehicle maintenance cost has increased marginally according to the AAA transport affordability index.

This assessment is based on a two car household (average age: one vehicle is 10 years and one vehicle is less than 3 years. The cost of servicing both cars in Darwin is over 50 per cent higher than Melbourne. This is due to the older car’s servicing costs and the cost of tyres.

Brisbane recorded a relatively high cost considering the used car servicing and new tyre markets should be large enough to keep prices down. Melbourne recorded the lowest cost, which reflects the competitive nature of the market in a large city. Click here to view the full report.
