BS5064 Rear Brake Shoe For Ford Escape & Mazda Tribute 2001 Onwards

Technical Bulletins

Mar 07, 2016

Bendix have reviewed and updated the catalogue brake shoe listings for the Series 1 Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute.

Originally the rear brake shoes for the Series 1 Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute were identified as BS1791, the same brake shoe used on a 1990’s Ford Telstar / Mazda 626. Further examination revealed the brake shoe dimensions were the same; however the pin used to locate the park brake lever and adjuster was different. As a result Bendix introduced part number BS5064 with a new pin configuration.

The 2013/14 Bendix Brake Pad & Shoe Data Book has incorrectly listed part number BS1791 for the Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute, the correct listing is BS5064.

Bendix recommends the following changes are made to your 2013/14 Data Book:

• Page 51, line 1, Ford Escape Rear – change BS1791 to BS5064.

• Page 109, line 26, Mazda Tribute Rear – change BS1791 to BS5064.

What happens to BS1791?

Brake Shoes BS1791 will continue to be available. While most Ford Telstar / Mazda 626 vehicles in Australia and New Zealand had 4-Wheel Disc brakes by 1991 there are still a few with rear drum brakes. Up to 1991 they had 200mm (8 inch) drums using BS1409, after 1991 they have 225mm (9 inch) drums using BS1791.
