In late 2004, Bendix combined the highly successful Protrans braking material with an OE quality single-use brake shoe which reduces the need to use recycled exchange shoes.
The Bendix Riveted brake shoe kit promises to be better than any of the alternatives in the commercial vehicle market and is priced very competitively. They have been shown to last as long as or longer than OE and both the shoe and the lining are manufactured to OE specification. The single use shoe is virtually a guarantee of reliability in a market where shoes are remanufactured and used over and over.
Riveting (using quality steel rivets) was preferable to bonding in commercial vehicles as riveting provides superior high temperature performance. The Bendix riveted shoe kit features electro hardened journal ends to help minimise wear issues and the indent or fold provides more strength between the shoe platform as it reduces flexing or stretching.
The Bendix Riveted brake shoe kit does away with having money tied up in core deposits and frees operators from the costs and other concerns of recycling which is a major issue in the aftermarket. The first seven references cover over 90 per cent of the market.
Long Life Protrans
Protrans brake lining is unique as it puts a film on the drum which helps the drum last longer, therefore saving owners and fleet operators time and money with less vehicle down time in the workshop.
Protrans brake lining compound has an FF rating and average friction level of 0.38. It provides excellent wear and drum effect characteristics. It’s also very quiet in all operations and has a maximum continuous working temperature of 300? Celsius.
But, without doubt, the biggest difference Protrans has brought to operators is that it lasts up to three times longer and protects drums, thereby dramatically reducing vehicle downtime.
Protrans is a multi purpose material that can be used in bus, light truck, trailer and common general purpose axles. It is also suitable for heavy duty truck applications.
Bendix Riveted Shoe kits now available with new Fleettrans lining
Following wide acceptance of Riveted Brake Shoe kits with the long-wearing Protrans material, the brake shoe kits are now available with the new Fleettrans brake lining. Combining Fleettrans with the OE quality single-use brake shoes will dramatically increase the up-front savings to be made by fleet operators.
In addition, the Fleettrans material is a genuine value for money lining replacement that does not compromise on performance.
Fleettrans offers good stopping power, good wear characteristics and reliable performance under a wide temperature range. It's available with friction ratings of FF and EE. The lining, manufactured to an ISO90001 quality standard, is a general purpose low cost material for light and heavy truck and trailer applications with S-CAM air brakes.
Fleetrans was developed as a cost effective compound achieving an excellent relationship between price and cost per kilometre.
