Supaloc champion makes it two in a row with Bendix Race pads.

South Australian Bruce Heinrich took out his second Supaloc Australian Saloon Car Championship in a row using Bendix Race.

His championship, driving a Ford Falcon AU, was confirmed at Sandown in December, giving him his fifth title in six years.  He believes that consistent and predictable braking as part of a vehicle’s all round performance gives him a real competitive edge.

“I can be confident that when I am going into a corner I am going to be able to stop – without locking up a wheel,” he said.

Bruce was involved with Bendix testing their Race pads for six months before the product was launched in 2007. It is claimed the pads give a race driver up to 20 per cent braking advantage – a huge margin in the split second world of saloon car racing.

The technology used in Bendix Race pads can be experienced across the range of Bendix pads, and in particular Bendix Street Road Track pads and Bendix Ultimate range of pads specially designed for prestige and high performance vehicles.

Bruce was categorical in claiming that Bendix Race pads are not only more forgiving, but actually last longer. In his case the results speak for themselves after two flat chat racing and two national championships in his AU Falcon. “There are not too many cars that can out-brake me since I have been using these pads,” he claimed.

FORD TO HOLDEN

Bruce is confident that the same race winning performance will continue when he fits Bendix Race to his new Commodore VT in time for the first meeting of the Supaloc season at Bathurst in February. He is well aware that he will be taking on new challenges racing a Holden in a series dominated by Fords.

Bruce, himself a qualified mechanic, has been racing for 15 years including eight years in saloon cars. He claims that brakes are crucial to his winning races in a world where drivers often rely largely on horsepower. “I try to rely on car set-up as well as horsepower – a car that works well, corners well and stops well.”

He is vitally involved in the preparation of his cars and has no hesitation in recommending Bendix Race pads. Right from the start he found that enhanced braking could counter fast competitors: “It had a lot to do with the pads because I was a little bit down on horsepower compared with my main competition, but I was still able to catch him and I didn’t lose any ground,” he reported.

BRAKING CONFIDENCE

Bruce claims that the consistent performance of the Bendix Race pads breed confidence knowing “you can go into a corner deeper, knowing that you are not going to lock a wheel, unlike other brake pads.”

“I think that is where my better times have come from because I can actually carry the corner speed and it won’t lock a wheel and take me off my line.  That is where the improvement is with these pads.”

It is hardly surprising to learn that his competitors are aware of his belief in Bendix Race pads and drivers in all categories around Australia are now relying on the proven performance of Bendix on the race track.
