Bendix brake pads
Better by a long shot
Adelaide UltraTune service centre owner David Banning and his technicians use three words when talking about Bendix brake pads – trust, confidence and reputation, the three qualities that are the essentials for a successful business.
David says because he and his staff trust Bendix pads, they have the confidence to fit them to customers’ vehicles. His store managers know that when they fit Bendix, the pads are going to deliver the right results and this enhances their reputation as reliable suppliers of top-of-the-line products.
“When the customer asks what sort of brake pads you are going to supply you can confidently stand by the Bendix record because they are well known for quality. As pads go they are the main choice.” David says when he tells customers he uses Bendix, they feel a sense of security, no matter what sort of driving they do – business or pleasure.

It’s not just the customers who are happy with Bendix. The technicians who deal with them also feel good about Bendix pads because they know that customers have superior, safe braking and are not going to come back complaining of noise or dust.
As the owner of UltraTune Modbury and UltraTune Golden Grove, in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs, David says this is a very important factor because if a customer is not happy it reflects on their business. Successful business people know that customers don’t necessarily come back saying they had a good experience with a purchase but if they have a bad experience, they never come back. “Word of mouth advertising is very important in doing business. I want the customer to see my business as one they can trust – and we want to keep them safe on the road.”
David tested Bendix pads on his own vehicle as well as his wife’s vehicle and he found that the wear ratio versus dust and noise was very, very good.” And he is speaking from experience. With 22 years in the business, starting as an apprentice at 16, David worked his way up the ladder including a stint as Group Service Manager for City Holden in Adelaide prior to taking up the UltraTune franchise which he has owned for about two years.
David employs a staff of six in each service centre. He sells the full range of Bendix pads to a wide range of customers but the biggest demand is for Bendix General CT.
In addition to the good wear, low dust and low noise characteristics, David says another advantage of Bendix brake pads is their availability. They are easier to get than any other brand from a far greater range of locations.
Over the last few years David has seen brake pads go through a lot of change especially with the removal of asbestos. He says many manufactures have struggled to find the right compounds to replace asbestos but Bendix has got it right. “Our business depends on its reputation and when our clients are not happy with their pads, we confidently replace other brands with Bendix because we trust them. I have done that at my own expense to maintain good faith with my clients.”
David says, “Bendix pads are better by a long-shot than any other competitors out there.”
